On November 4th, 2008 the election took place. In Massachusetts there were several ballot questions. People showed up at the polls in record numbers to cast their votes. The three questions were.

  1. reduce the state personal income tax rate to 2.65% for the tax year
  2. decriminlize marijuana
  3. prohibit dog races on which betting or wagering occurs

Question 1.
This question is not related to healthcare because healthcare companies get their fundings from goverment taxes.

Question 2.
This is related to my question because more people will be willing to try marijuana which is bad for your health which will cause more people to need healthcare for the damaging affects of smoking pot.

Question 3.
Dog racing does not relate to my topic because

Vice President Debate 2008

Washington University, St. Louis.
October 2, 2008
" 'Media will swarm campus' is the headline this week in the student newspaper at Washington University in St. Louis where Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Sarah Palin are scheduled to kick off their much-anticipated vice presidential debate at 8 p.m. (CDT) Oct. 2, in the University's Athletic Complex. "

FUN FACT:
Washington University held a lottery for students to enter to win tickets to attend this historic debate between Sen. Joe Biden(Delaware) and Gov. Sarah Pailin(Alaska). The number of students entered in the lottery was and 7,942 was not open to the public but only the students of the University. The lottery closed on September 26, 2008 and by 8 PM they were notified via E-mail of their status. The top 300 were able to stay in the pool for potential ticket holders. It is not clear how many(if any) students recieved tickets for the debate.

"I may not answer the questions how the moderator, and you Sen. Biden want to hear."
Pailin answered all the questions but things she did not want to answer, or did not have an answer for she simply worked around the question.

Opening words of Debate.

opinion:
I believe that both Biden, and Pailin stated their arguments very well. Neither candidates got angry which showed they could calmy speak about how strongly they feel about each veiw. Although Sarah Pailin refrenced her family quite a bit she showed the poeple that she is ready to be a Vice President and help lead this Country. Biden, was very strong in his answers and showed us all once again that he is very experience and prepared to take this roll.

"In a statement released last Friday, Andy Stern pointed out that the worst is still to come as the financial meltdown hits kitchen tables - and that John McCain's health care plan would mean less regulation for insurance companies, more costs and more risks for ordinary working families. "

"And one thing McCain says he won't do is impose any sort of requirement that people have health insurance — the sort of mandate that Clinton and Obama are currently sparring over."

Innovative, Portable, and Affortable

John McCain
working to make healthcare easier for people to obtain insurance
John McCain's plan is to use competition to greater the quality and have a greater variety for peoples needs.
McCain's plan allows you to choose your insurance provider and with a refundable tax credit you will be able to pick the insurance company based upon your needs.

So, say your family needs health insurance that covers the cost of an oxygen tank, because a family member needs it 24/7, his plan will allow you to pick a company that will help you get as much help as you need to pay for the tank.
